Bower received his first degree, in forensic chemistry, from Westchester University, then graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Fla. He first worked as a chiropractor in Williamsport for three years before deciding to open his own practice, Full Function Chiropractic.
Bower utilizes therapeutic ultrasound, electrical stimulation and myofascial release to help a wide variety of patients, including toddlers, children, adults and seniors. He said he particularly enjoys aiding athletes with sports injuries. Bower, who played rugby at Westchester, has worked with multiple types of athletes such as swimmers and soccer players.
He works with the spine as well as extremities, and also offers nutritional and dietary counseling if applicable. Bower said he has always had an affinity for athletics and health and he wants to use his two loves to better the health of the community.
“I like one-on-one patient interaction, and I’ve always been health-oriented,” he said. “I thought it was a good fit.”
Bower said he treats conservatively and non-invasively in order to find the root of the problem and figure out what the best options are for his patients. He often involves patients by giving them exercises to do at home to aid in the process of healing.
Bower tests each patient before starting treatment, then tests each again after about two weeks of treatment. If, for any reason, a patient is not responding to treatment, Bower said he will go the extra mile to refer him or her to the appropriate specialist.
“Each patient is unique, so each treatment is unique to them,” Bower said. “I’m contributing, they’re contributing…We work as a team.”
